The last two weeks marked the end of our 1st year with our 4th graders, and the end of year 2 with Pitch In 5th graders! We had a great time celebrating with both groups of students and mentors recognizing each with student awards, hand made mentor thank you cards and frame photos and more! We are so thankful to D’Agostino’s Pizza for donating delicious pizza and to the local ice cream truck for popping by for us to enjoy a sweet treat!
Our 5th graders had a special surprise from Y & R Chicago. Last year our students worked with Y&R to write their own adventure stories. Since then, our friends at Y&R have worked incredibly hard to bring student’s stories to life. How you ask? They created comic books out of the stories! Each student took home their own comic book, with their names on the cover along with movie style posters too! We were so thrilled to see our Pitch In 5th graders excitement when they saw their own work in comic form! HUGE thank you to Y&R Chicago for making this happen, absolutely astounding!!
We had two wonderful classes of Pitch In students and can’t wait for the next to start in October. Until then, we look forward to seeing our students that signed up for our summer program starting this Tuesday! 🙂
